Breathe Tradition Not Addiction

Breathe Tradition, Not Addiction (BTNA) is a health education program that teaches 4th – 12th grade students about commercial tobacco, vaping, and traditional medicines. This is a fun and engaging way to get students to think about how tobacco and vaping products
may impact their health.

Hello y'all! My name is Laila Fauzi, and I am a junior at the University of New Mexico studying Biochemistry and minoring in Biology. My future aspiration is to practice medicine and become an Anesthesiologist! Some interesting facts about me include working in the Neuroscience department lab as a Student Lab Aide since my sophomore year, playing the violin, and cooking Malaysian cuisine well. I have been with BTNA since my sophomore year, and I love teaching middle and high school students about the dangers of commercial tobacco and how they differ from traditional tobacco. And with the new year and the new goals, I am excited to continue with the Native Health Initiative throughout my university years! Thank you, and I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of you.
